As soon as I saw Noodlehead's Cargo Duffle bag it jumped to the top of my "must make" list. I used a favorite fabric for the top, Tula Pink's Sunset Sugar Arrowheads for her Acacia line. I was a little nervous to use a white fabric for the bag since I have two littles and it'll be used for traveling, but you can't help what you love!
The pattern is genius, and it helped to review the Cargo Duffle Quilt Along as well as Anna's Cargo Duffle trouble shooting blog post. I used this tutorial from Skirt As Top to make the lining with welted pocket. It's not a fast make, but so worth it! I learned a lot about bag construction while making this.
My only wish is that I had hunted down a YKK zipper instead of using the suggested Coats and Clark carryall zipper, as it doesn't zip as smoothly as I'd like.
This bag has already been on a road trip and was awesome for all my magazines (yes I still kid myself that I'll be able to read while on vacation with a 3 year old and 1 year old), gadgets, and kid accoutrement . Just don't let your husband throw it in the dirt while he's packing the car… I nearly died.
