Schnitzel & Boo Mini Quilt Swap gift

I am participating in my first handmade swap, the Schnitzel & Boo Mini Quilt swap.  This has been so fun making for another maker, stalking checking out their social media sites to see their style and going shopping for a few of their favorite little extras.

I decided to use the Supernova pattern from the book Quilting Modern by Jacquie Geringand Katie Pedersen.  I omitted the top and bottom rows, my block size was 2.5" unfinished, and I did it in a scrappy rainbow instead of the suggested color layout.  I love how it turned out and hope my partner enjoys it!  Finished size is 22" square.

I made one of Svetlana's drawstring bags, and I was extremely impressed with how easy and quick it was to sew this up!  It's my new go to bag.  I bought some paracord from Home Depot (roughly $3 for 50 ft) and used it for the drawstring.  I just used a lighter to melt the frayed ends.  This bag housed some of the extra goodies I included in the swap package.  The package has shipped so keep a look out for it on a doorstop near you :)

Linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday.

Cheers!

  1. That is quite a thoughtful piece. I like the way the colours radiate outwards and the you have added interest with the inflection of colour with your triangle corners. really nice

  2. I like the way you handled the rainbow transition: concentric, but without the feeling of circles. Great idea.
